This document is designed as a clear operational policy. It should be reviewed periodically against changes in Kenyan law and the company’s actual practices.
Respecting creators and protecting journalism
Unless a byline, credit or licence states otherwise, TPM or its licensors own the articles, headlines, photographs, graphics, audio, video, code, compilations and design published through our services. Protection arises under Kenya’s Copyright Act and applicable international law.
1. Personal use
You may read, bookmark and share a TPM page using its original link. You may print one copy for private, non-commercial reference. You may quote a short, proportionate passage for criticism, review, scholarship or news reporting where the law permits, provided the quotation is accurate, clearly attributed to Top Prime Media and linked to the original page.
2. Uses requiring permission
Written permission is required for republication of full or substantial articles; commercial clipping; systematic scraping; newsletters or databases containing TPM copy; public display; broadcast reuse; translation; merchandise; training machine-learning or generative-AI systems; or use of TPM photographs, video, audio, illustrations, logos and page captures beyond a lawful exception.
3. Syndication and licensing
We license single articles, archive packages, photographs, video clips, data-led graphics and recurring feeds. Requests should identify the exact content URL, intended use, territory, platforms, duration, audience and whether the use is paid or sponsored. Contact syndication@topprimemedia.co.ke. No licence is granted until confirmed in writing.
4. TPM trademarks
Top Prime Media, TPM, related logos and programme marks may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership or source identity without written approval. Truthful editorial reference to TPM is permitted where it is not misleading and uses no more brand material than necessary.
5. Contributor and third-party material
Agency, broadcaster, freelance, library, user-generated and Creative Commons material may have separate rights and credit requirements. TPM cannot grant rights it does not own. Contact the named rights holder where the credit indicates third-party ownership.
6. Copyright complaints
If you believe content infringes your rights, email copyright@topprimemedia.co.ke with: your identity and authority; the protected work; the exact TPM URL; the allegedly infringing part; the remedy requested; contact details; and a good-faith statement that the information is accurate. Misrepresentation may expose a complainant to legal consequences.
7. Our review process
We may temporarily restrict disputed material while assessing ownership, licence, lawful exceptions and public interest. We may request evidence, contact the contributor, preserve records, restore content with explanation, edit attribution, license the use or remove material. Repeat deliberate infringement may lead to account termination.
8. Linking and search indexing
Ordinary links to public pages are welcome if they do not frame TPM deceptively, bypass controls or imply sponsorship. Search engines may index public pages subject to our robots directives and applicable law. Automated use beyond indexing requires written permission.
9. Reservation of rights
No omission of a notice or technical control waives a right. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Permissions can be withdrawn for breach, misrepresentation, non-payment or use outside the agreed scope.
